The Yankee Freedom II is unlike any ferry that currently operates out of Key West, Florida today. While aboard the Yankee Freedom II you will feel the wind in your hair as you travel at speeds of 30 MPH towards the Dry Tortugas National Park.
Luxury at its best, the Yankee Freedom II offers a spacious cabin with air conditioning, comfortable seating arrangements, and even three bathrooms can be found on board. The fresh water rinse shower is a popular feature, as well. Additionally, there is a full-sized galley on board that serves snacks, soft drinks, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and other goodies. Film for pictures and souvenirs can also be found on board.
Visiting the upper deck will allow you to take in some deep breaths of salty sea air. Take a few moments to listen to the sounds and to view the sights of the marine life around you. A choice between a spacious shaded and un-shaded sundeck is available with comfortable lounging areas where you can bask in the sunshine. You can also head up topside where a cocktail bar can be found.
Once the Yankee Freedom II has arrived at Dry Tortugas National Park, guests will be able to disembark at Fort Jefferson, along Garden Key. You will be given the option of joining a 40 minute tour of the fort with a friendly guide. Preceding the tour, a picnic buffet will be available free of charge. The buffet will offer fresh deli meats and cheese, peanut butter and jelly for any children that desire some, potato salad, pasta salad, and chips. Beverages will include iced tea and lemonade. Lunch can be enjoyed under a shady palm tree in the picnic area.
After lunch you can enjoy a host of water activities for the rest of your time. You can take part in swimming or snorkeling in the beautiful surrounding waters. Snorkel gear is available on the Yankee Freedom II, free of charge. For those land lovers, you can go exploring on the island, bird watching, or take photographs as you examine the island’s diverse selection of flora and fauna
